Prepare the Patties
In a bowl, season the ground chuck with salt and black pepper. Divide the meat into two equal portions and shape them into patties.

Broil the Patties
Preheat the broiler. Place the patties on a broiler pan and broil for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

Sauté the Onions and Mushrooms
While the patties are broiling, slice the onion and mushrooms. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until they're soft and slightly caramelized, about 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and butter, cooking until the mushrooms are tender, about 3-4 minutes.
