Method
Preparing the Patties
- 1
Combine Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the Angus ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.
- 2
Form Patties
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent bulging during cooking.
Cooking the Patties
- 3
Preheat Grill
Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
- 4
Cook Patties
Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for an additional 4 minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- 5
Add Cheese
In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Close the grill lid to melt the cheese.

While the patties are cooking, slice the pretzel rolls in half and toast them lightly on the grill if desired.
- 7
Layer the Ingredients
On the bottom half of each pretzel roll, place a layer of lettuce, followed by the grilled patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, a few rings of red onion, and pickles.
