Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet mixture. Gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.

  2. 4

    Heat the Pan

Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or oil.

  3. 5

    Cook Pancakes

Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes or until golden brown.

  4. 6

    Serve

Remove the pancakes from the skillet and keep warm. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve warm topped with butter and maple syrup to taste.
