Method

Onion Rings

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into thick rings, about 1/2 inch thick. Separate the rings and set them aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Beer Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and well combined. Let it rest for about 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or a deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Dredge and Fry

Dip each onion ring into the beer batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Spicy Dipping Sauce

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, hot sauce, lemon juice, paprika, and garlic powder. Stir until all ingredients are well mixed and the sauce is smooth.

  2. 6

    Serve

Serve the crispy onion rings hot with a side of the spicy dipping sauce.
