Method

Prepare the Candied Bacon

  1. 1

    Bake the Bacon

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lay the bacon strips in a single layer. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar and maple syrup. Sprinkle the mixture over the bacon.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.

Make the Bourbon Glaze

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine the bourbon, soy sauce, honey, and minced garlic.

  2. 4

    Simmer the Glaze

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Let it reduce for about 10-15 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 5

    Form the Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently and form into 4 equal patties.

  2. 6

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

Lightly toast the brioche buns on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the burger patty with melted cheese, candied bacon, a slice of tomato, onion, and pickles. Drizzle with bourbon glaze and cover with the top half of the bun.
