Method
Biscuits
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Cut in Butter
Add the unsalted butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4
Add Milk and Cream
Pour in the milk and heavy cream, and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 5
Shape the Biscuits
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits.
- 6
Bake Biscuits
Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Gravy
- 7
Cook Sausage
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground pork sausage until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- 8
Make Roux

- 9
Add Milk
Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps, and bring the mixture to a simmer.
- 10
Season the Gravy
Add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste. Cook until the gravy thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
- 11
