Preparation
1. Prepare the Tomatoes
Wash and slice the fresh tomatoes into thick rounds. Place them in a bowl and add salt and black pepper to taste. Let them sit for about 10 minutes to release some juices.
2. Prepare the Mozzarella
If using fresh mozzarella, slice it into thick rounds or tear it into chunks. Set aside.
3. Prepare the Basil
Wash the fresh basil leaves and gently pat them dry with a paper towel. Set aside.
Assembly
4. Assemble the Dish
On a serving platter, arrange the sliced tomatoes in a circular pattern. Top with slices of mozzarella cheese.
5. Add Basil and Drizzle
Scatter the fresh basil leaves over the tomatoes and mozzarella. Drizzle olive oil over the entire dish.
6. Optional Balsamic Drizzle
If using, drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the top for added flavor.
