Parkerhouse Rolls

Method

Instructions

1

Prepare the Dough

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until bubbly. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.

2

Knead the Dough

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

3

Shape the Rolls

After the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place it in a greased baking dish, spacing them apart. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.

4

Bake the Rolls

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with Maldon salt.

5

Serve

Serve warm with house cultured butter on the side.
