For the Tiramisu
Method
Preparation of Tiramisu
- 1
Prepare the coffee mixture
Brew the espresso coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If using, mix the coffee liqueur with the cooled espresso.
- 2
Make the mascarpone mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- 3
Whip the cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Be careful not to over-whip.
- 4
Combine mixtures
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined and smooth.
- 5
Dip the ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- 6
Layer the tiramisu
In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- 7
Repeat the layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.
- 8
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 9
Serve
Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder for a finishing touch. Cut into squares and enjoy!
