Pasta Preparation

Cook the Penne
In a large pot of boiling salted water, add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced shallots and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they are translucent.

Add Garlic and Red Pepper Flakes
Stir in the minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Incorporate Tomato Puree and Vodka
Pour in the tomato puree and vodka, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes to reduce slightly.

Add Cream and Cheese
Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.

Season the Sauce
Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir in the chopped fresh basil.
Combine and Serve

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked penne pasta to the sauce in the skillet. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

Serve the Penne Vodka hot, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
