Method

Meatballs Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Chill

Refrigerate the formed meatballs for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while cooking.

Cooking Meatballs

  1. 4

    Brown Meatballs

In a large skillet over medium heat, add a little olive oil and brown the meatballs on all sides, approximately 5-7 minutes.

  2. 5

    Finish Cooking

Once browned, transfer the meatballs to a baking dish and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 7

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and add oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir well to combine.

  3. 8

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and let cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serve

  1. 9

    Combine and Serve

Once the meatballs are cooked through, add them to the marinara sauce and let simmer together for 5 minutes. Serve hot with pasta or on their own.
