Method

Prepare Lasagna

  1. 1

    Cook Lasagna Noodles

In a large pot, boil water and cook 12 lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Mix Ricotta Filling

In a bowl, combine 2 cups of ricotta cheese, 2 eggs, 2 cups of spinach (chopped if fresh), and 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

Make Marinara Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 4 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Add 28 ounces of canned crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of sugar to the saucepan. Stir and let it simmer for 15 minutes.

  3. 5

    Finish Marinara

Stir in 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh basil and remove from heat. Set aside.

Assemble Lasagna

  1. 6

    Layer Ingredients

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce at the bottom. Place 3 noodles on top, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, a layer of 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, and another layer of marinara sauce. Repeat this process until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of noodles topped with marinara and the remaining mozzarella cheese.

Bake Lasagna

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 8

    Bake

Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  3. 9

    Serve

Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing into 6 pieces. Serve hot with additional marinara sauce if desired.
