Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Fettuccini
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccini and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 2
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the fettuccini in a colander. Set aside.
Sauce Preparation
- 3
Melt the Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Allow it to bubble gently, but do not let it brown.
- 4
Add Garlic and Cream
Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Slowly pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Let it simmer on low heat for about 2-3 minutes.
- 5
Incorporate Cheese and Season
Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce, stirring continuously until it melts and the sauce becomes smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- 6
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained fettuccini to the sauce in the skillet. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly in the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
Serving
- 7
Garnish and Serve
Transfer the fettuccini Alfredo to serving plates. Sprinkle with chopped parsley for garnish. Serve immediately while hot.
