Method
Preparing the Burger Patties
- 1
Form the Patties
In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix until just combined. Divide the mixture into two equal portions, then shape each portion into a patty that is about 7 oz and roughly ¾ inch thick.
Cooking the Burger
- 2
Grill the Patties
Preheat the grill to high heat. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, until a nice sear forms. Flip the patties and place a slice of American cheese on each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the burger reaches your desired doneness.
Toasting the Buns
- 3
Prepare the Buns
While the burgers are cooking, place the sweet sourdough buns cut side down on the grill for about 1-2 minutes until they are lightly toasted.
Assembling the Burger
- 4
Build Your Burger
To assemble, place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each toasted bun, followed by the grilled burger patty with melted cheese. Top with slices of tomato and finish with the other half of the bun.
