Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly over both sides of the ribeye steak. If desired, rub the minced garlic onto the steak for added flavor.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and heat until shimmering.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned ribeye steak onto the hot skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side for medium-rare, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes on the other side. Adjust cooking time if you prefer it more or less done.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cut the large potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt.

  2. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.

  3. 7

    Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes in a colander and return them to the pot. Add butter, heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  4. 8

    Serve

Spoon the garlic mashed potatoes onto a plate and serve alongside the sliced ribeye steak.
