Method
Crust Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
- 2
Mix the Crust Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine 1.5 cups of graham cracker crumbs, 0.5 cups of granulated sugar, and 0.75 cups of melted unsalted butter. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated.
- 3
Form the Crust
Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan to create an even layer. Use the back of a measuring cup to pack it tightly.
- 4
Pre-bake the Crust
Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove and set aside to cool slightly.
Filling Preparation
- 5
Prepare the Cream Cheese
In a large mixing bowl, beat 4 cups of softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
- 6
Add Sugar and Other Ingredients
Gradually add 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1 cup of sour cream, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, and 0.25 cups of all-purpose flour. Mix until combined and smooth.
- 7
Incorporate Eggs
Add 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing on low speed after each addition until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 8
Pour Filling into Crust
Pour the cheesecake filling over the pre-baked crust in the springform pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Baking and Cooling
- 9
Bake the Cheesecake
Bake the cheesecake in the oven for 55-60 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center has a slight jiggle.
- 10
Cool the Cheesecake
Turn off the oven and crack the door open, allowing the cheesecake to cool in the oven for an hour. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely at room temperature.
- 11
Chill in the Refrigerator
Once cooled, cover the cheesecake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
