Main Ingredients
Method
Preparation of Sticky Rice
- 1
Soak the Sticky Rice
Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- 2
Steam the Sticky Rice
After soaking, drain the rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam for about 30-40 minutes, or until the rice is tender and translucent.
Preparation of Coconut Sauce
- 3
Mix the Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Cook over low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Do not let it boil.
- 4
Combine Sauce with Sticky Rice
Once the sticky rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour about two-thirds of the coconut sauce over the rice. Stir gently to combine, and let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Serve the Dish
- 5
Prepare the Mango
While the rice absorbs the coconut sauce, peel and slice the ripe mangoes into thin wedges.
- 6
Plate and Garnish
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top with fresh mango slices, and drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans if desired.
