Method
Dumpling Preparation
- 1
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and cardamom powder. Mix thoroughly.
- 2
Add Ghee
Add ghee to the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture is crumbly.
- 3
Add Milk
Gradually add milk to the mixture while kneading gently until a soft dough forms. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
- 4
Form Dumplings
After resting, divide the dough into small portions and roll them into smooth balls, about the size of a marble.
- 5
Prepare for Frying
Ensure the dumplings are smooth and free of cracks, as this will help them maintain their shape while frying.
Syrup Preparation
- 6
- 7
Add Flavor
Add rose water and cardamom pods to the syrup. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes until it slightly thickens, then remove from heat.
Frying Dumplings
- 8
Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat ghee or oil over low to medium heat.
- 9
Fry Dumplings
Gently place the dumplings in hot oil, a few at a time. Fry until they turn golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- 10
Drain and Soak
Once golden, remove the dumplings and drain them on paper towels for a moment before placing them in the warm syrup.
Serving
- 11
Soak in Syrup
Allow the fried dumplings to soak in the syrup for at least 30 minutes before serving. This helps them absorb the sweetness.
- 12
Serve
Serve warm or at room temperature, garnished with nuts or additional cardamom if desired.
