Calamari Ingredients
Method
Calamari Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Breading Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix well to ensure even distribution of spices.
- 3
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Coat the Calamari
Dunk the calamari rings into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then transfer them to the flour mixture. Toss to coat evenly.
- 6
Fry the Calamari
Carefully drop the coated calamari into the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- 7
Drain the Calamari
Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried calamari from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 8
Serve
Serve the fried calamari hot with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
