Pie Crust and Filling

Method

Preparation and Assembly

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pie Crust

If using a store-bought pie crust, follow the package instructions to prepare. If making homemade, roll out the dough and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan. Prick the bottom with a fork and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden. Allow to cool completely.

  2. 2

    Make the Filling

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add cocoa powder and mix until well combined. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Add vanilla extract and mix until smooth.

  3. 3

    Whip the Cream

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture until fully incorporated.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Pie

Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled pie crust. Smooth the top with a spatula. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.

  5. 5

    Garnish and Serve

Before serving, garnish the top of the pie with chocolate shavings or curls. Slice and enjoy your delicious French Silk Pie!
