Method

Prepare Noodles

  1. 1

    Cook the Chow Mein Noodles

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the chow mein noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente, typically about 3-4 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking. Set aside.

Prepare Shrimp

  1. 2

    Season the Shrimp

In a bowl, combine the peeled and deveined shrimp with a pinch of black pepper. Let them sit while you prepare the vegetables and sauce.

Prepare Vegetables

  1. 3

    Chop the Vegetables

Slice the bell pepper, julienne the carrot, and chop the green onions. Mince the garlic and set all vegetables aside.

Make the Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Set aside.

Cook the Chow Mein

  1. 5

    Stir-Fry the Shrimp and Vegetables

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of oil. Once hot, add the shrimp and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink. Remove shrimp and set aside.

  2. 6

    Add Vegetables

In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if necessary, and add the minced garlic, bell pepper, carrot, and snow peas. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

  3. 7

    Combine Everything

Return the shrimp to the skillet, add the cooked noodles, and pour the sauce over everything. Toss well to coat all ingredients. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.

Serve

  1. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top before serving. Enjoy your Shrimp Chow Mein hot!
