Method
Preparation of Noodles
Cook the Chow Mein Noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the Chow Mein noodles and cook according to package instructions, usually about 3-5 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking. Set aside.
Cooking the Protein
Cook the Chicken
In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add sliced chicken breast and season with salt and black pepper. Stir-fry until the chicken is cooked through and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Stir-Frying Vegetables
Sauté the Aromatics
In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Add minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the Vegetables
Add the julienned carrots, sliced bell pepper, shredded cabbage, and chopped green onions to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
Combining Ingredients
Mix Everything Together
Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Add the cooked chow mein noodles, soy sauce, and chili sauce (to taste). Toss everything together and stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and well combined.
Serving
Serve Hot
Remove from heat and serve the Chow Mein hot. Garnish with additional green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
