Potatoes and Seasoning

Method

Instructions for Making Fries

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into even sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried potato sticks in batches to the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fries hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
