Method
Instructions
Prepare the Pork
Rub the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Place it in a slow cooker with apple cider vinegar and water. Cook on low for 8 hours or until tender.
Make the BBQ Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, red chile powder, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes until thickened.
Shred the Pork
Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Mix the shredded pork with the Nexus Red Chile BBQ sauce.
Assemble the Sandwiches
Toast the hamburger buns, then layer the pulled pork mixture, pickles, and pickled cabbage on the bottom half of each bun. Top with the other half of the bun.
Serve
Serve the sandwiches warm with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
