Combine ingredients
If making a classic lime margarita: into a cocktail shaker add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and a scoop of ice (about 1 cup). If making a strawberry margarita on the rocks: add 1 oz fresh strawberry purée and 0.5 oz simple syrup in addition to the tequila, triple sec, and lime juice.
- 3
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and well-chilled.
- 4
Frozen Strawberry Margarita (Optional)
- 5
Blend
In a blender combine 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 1 oz lime juice, 1 oz strawberry purée (or 4 hulled strawberries), 0.5 oz simple syrup (if desired), and 1.5 cups ice. Blend on high until smooth and slushy, about 20–30 seconds, pausing to stir if needed.
- 6
Serve
Pour the frozen margarita into the salted glass. Garnish with a strawberry or lime wheel.
Notes & Adjustments
- 7
Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness: add more simple syrup for sweetness or more lime juice for brightness. For a stronger cocktail, increase tequila by 0.25–0.5 oz. For lower alcohol, reduce tequila or increase ice.
