Caesar Cocktail Base

Garnish (optional but traditional)

Method

Prepare the Glass

  1. 1

Rub the cut lime wedge around the rim of a tall glass (highball or pint). Spread the coarse salt on a small plate, then dip the moistened rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

Mix the Caesar

  1. 2

Fill the prepared glass about two-thirds full with ice cubes (approximately 1 cup).

  2. 3

In the glass (or a separate mixing glass/shaker if preferred), pour 2 oz vodka and 4 oz Clamato juice.

  3. 4

Add 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce (Lea & Perrins), 3 dashes Tabasco, 0.5 tsp celery salt, and 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper to the glass.

  4. 5

Gently stir the mixture with a bar spoon or long spoon for about 10–15 seconds to combine flavors without overly diluting the drink.

Garnish and Serve

  1. 6

Squeeze the reserved lime wedge lightly over the drink to add a touch of fresh juice, then drop the wedge into the glass (or use a lime wheel on the rim).

  2. 7

Add a celery stalk and, if using, a cocktail shrimp to the rim or placed over the glass as garnish. Adjust heat with additional Tabasco to taste (add 1 dash at a time).

  3. 8

Serve immediately with a straw and a small napkin. Taste and, if needed, add a pinch more celery salt or black pepper to balance seasoning.
