Build
Fill an old-fashioned (rocks) glass with ice cubes until nearly full.

Pour 2 fl oz vodka over the ice.

Add 1 fl oz Kahlúa (coffee liqueur) directly on top of the vodka.

Gently stir once or twice with a bar spoon to slightly combine but keep a layered appearance if desired. Do not over-stir — aim for a uniform but not fully mixed look.

Optionally garnish with an orange twist expressed over the drink or a maraschino cherry placed on top.

Serve immediately with a short straw or stirrer.
