Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork and Rub

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Rub this mixture all over the pork shoulder and let it sit for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Smoker

Soak the hickory wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes before smoking. Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).

  3. 3

    Smoke the Pork

Once the smoker is ready, place the pork shoulder on the smoker rack. Add the soaked hickory wood chips to the smoker box. Smoke the pork for about 8-10 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 195°F (90°C).

  4. 4

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the smoker and let it rest for 30 minutes. Shred the pork using two forks, discarding any excess fat.

  5. 5

    Mix with BBQ Sauce

In a large bowl, mix the shredded pork with apple cider vinegar and BBQ sauce until well combined.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the pulled pork on hamburger buns with additional BBQ sauce if desired.
