Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Sticky Rice
Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- 2
Cook the Sticky Rice
Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo steamer or a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth for about 20-25 minutes, or until tender.
- 3
Make the Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Do not boil.
- 4
Combine Rice and Coconut Sauce
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour half of the coconut sauce over it. Stir to combine and let it sit for about 15 minutes.
- 5
Prepare the Mango
While the rice is resting, peel and slice the fresh mangoes.
- 6
Serve
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce, and top with fresh mango slices. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
