Cheese Curds

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Breading Station

Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls. In the first bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In the second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In the third bowl, combine the cornmeal, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Bread the Cheese Curds

Dip each mozzarella cheese curd first into the flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip into the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off. Finally, coat the curd in the seasoned cornmeal mixture, pressing gently to adhere.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Cheese Curds

Carefully add a few breaded cheese curds to the hot oil, being sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining cheese curds.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve hot with house-made ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
