Tamale Preparation
- 1
Prepare Corn Husks
Soak the corn husks in warm water for about 30 minutes to soften them.

Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine masa harina, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, mix chicken broth and vegetable oil. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
- 3
Assemble the Tamales
Take a corn husk, spread about 2 tablespoons of masa dough on the lower half, add a spoonful of shredded chicken in the center, then fold the sides of the husk over the filling and fold the bottom up.
- 4
Steam the Tamales
Place the tamales upright in a steamer pot. Cover with a wet cloth and steam for about 1 hour or until the masa is firm and fully cooked.
