Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filling

    1. In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the diced onion and bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes until they soften.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

    2. Season the sirloin steak with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Add it to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Chop and Mix

    3. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes. Then chop it into small pieces. Mix the chopped steak with the sautéed vegetables and queso blanco until well combined.

  4. 4

    Prepare Empanada Dough

    4. Roll out empanada dough on a floured surface. Cut into circles (about 4-5 inches in diameter).

  5. 5

    Assemble Empanadas

    5. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold over and crimp the edges to seal.

  6. 6

    Cooking

    6. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
