Filling and Dough

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef Filling

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.

  2. 2

    Season the Beef

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  3. 3

    Add Spices

Stir in the cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Empanadas

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). On a clean surface, take one empanada dough disc and place about 1 tablespoon of the beef filling in the center. Fold the disc over to create a half-moon shape and crimp the edges with a fork to seal.

  5. 5

    Prepare for Baking

Place the filled empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.

  6. 6

    Bake the Empanadas

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
