Burger Patties

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty approximately ¾ inch thick.

  3. 3

    Chill the Patties

Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 4

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 5

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. If adding cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.

  3. 6

    Rest the Patties

Remove the patties from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

Optionally, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by a cooked patty, tomato slices, and any desired condiments such as ketchup, mustard, and pickles.

  3. 9

    Top and Serve

Place the top half of the bun over the assembled ingredients and serve the hamburgers with your choice of sides.
