Brownie Base

Method

Brownie Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Mix well until combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  3. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Cream Cheese Swirl Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture

In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with granulated sugar until smooth. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined and creamy.

Baking

  1. 6

    Prepare the Baking Pan

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

  2. 7

    Layer the Mixtures

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan. Dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl the cream cheese mixture into the brownie batter, creating a marbled effect.

  3. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.

  4. 9

    Cool and Serve

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before lifting them out using the parchment paper. Slice into squares and serve warm or at room temperature.
