Method
For the Crust
- 1
Prepare the Crust
In a medium bowl, mix together graham cracker crumbs, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand.
- 2
Press into Pan
Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan to form an even layer. Use the back of a measuring cup or your fingers to smooth it out.
- 3
Chill the Crust
Place the crust in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to set while you prepare the ice cream layers.
For the Ice Cream Layer
- 4
Soften Ice Cream
Remove both chocolate and vanilla ice cream from the freezer and let them sit at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes to soften slightly.
- 5
Layer Chocolate Ice Cream
Once softened, scoop the chocolate ice cream into the prepared crust and spread it evenly across the bottom. Smooth the top with a spatula.
- 6
- 7
Layer Vanilla Ice Cream
After the chocolate layer has set, scoop the vanilla ice cream on top of the chocolate layer and smooth it out evenly.
- 8
Add Chocolate Chips
Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly over the vanilla ice cream layer.
- 9
Freeze Again
Return to the freezer for another 30 minutes or until the vanilla layer is firm.
For the Topping
- 10
- 11
Spread Whipped Cream
Spread the whipped cream evenly over the top of the torte.
- 12
Decorate with Chocolate Shavings
Sprinkle chocolate shavings over the whipped cream topping for garnish.
