Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fish

Rinse the walleye fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Stations

In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together in the second bowl, and add the crushed butter crackers in the third bowl.

  3. 3

    Bread the Walleye

Dredge each fillet in flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off, and finally coat it in the crushed butter crackers, pressing gently to adhere.

  4. 4

    Fry the Fish

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded walleye fillets, cooking for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove the fillets from the skillet and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with tartar sauce on the side.
