Fried Pickle Chips

Ranch Dressing

Method

Preparing Fried Pickle Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the dill pickles from the jar and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps to remove excess moisture, which can prevent them from getting crispy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Buttermilk

Pour the buttermilk into a separate shallow bowl.

  4. 4

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Then, dredge the pickle in the flour mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Place the coated pickles on a plate.

  5. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  6. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated pickles in batches. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Preparing Ranch Dressing

  1. 7

    Mix the Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix until smooth and well combined.

  2. 8

    Chill the Dressing

Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
