Preparation

Bread Directions

1. Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt.

3. Combine Mixtures

Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the flour mixture along with olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

4. Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

5. First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

6. Shape and Second Rise

Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf or desired shape, and place it in a greased baking pan. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.

7. Bake

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

8. Cool

Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Pastry Directions

9. Cream Butter and Sugar

In a mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

10. Add Eggs and Vanilla

Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

11. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour and baking powder.

12. Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until just combined.

13. Prepare Baking Tray

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

14. Shape Pastries

Scoop or pipe the mixture onto the prepared baking tray, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

15. Bake

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

16. Cool and Dust

Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
