Method

Preparing Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Season the Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until well combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip them over and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Preparing Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the tomato and onion. Tear the lettuce leaves into manageable pieces.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

Place a cooked patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of each bun. Layer with lettuce, tomato slices, onion slices, and pickles. Add ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise to your taste before placing the top half of the bun on.
