Method

Fish Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and free of lumps. Set aside for 15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Heat the oil

In a deep frying pan or a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Batter the cod

Dip each cod fillet into the prepared batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

  4. 4

    Fry the cod

Carefully place the battered cod fillets in the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Fries Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the potatoes

Peel the potatoes and cut them into thick fries. Rinse under cold water to remove excess starch, then pat dry with a towel.

  2. 6

    Heat the oil for fries

In a separate deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil for frying the fries over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 7

    Fry the fries

Carefully add the cut potatoes to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 4-6 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, then season with salt.
