Method
Preparation
- 1
Rinse the Rice
Place the jasmine rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold running water for about 2-3 minutes until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and helps prevent the rice from becoming gummy.
- 2
Soak the Rice (Optional)
For better texture, you may soak the rinsed rice in fresh water for 30 minutes before cooking. This step is optional but recommended for perfect results.
Cooking
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a medium-sized pot, combine the rinsed (and soaked, if applicable) jasmine rice, water, and salt.
- 4
Bring to Boil
Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low.
- 5
Simmer
Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and let it simmer on low heat for 15 minutes. Avoid lifting the lid during this time to ensure even cooking.
- 6
Rest
After 15 minutes, remove the pot from heat while keeping the lid on. Let the rice rest for another 10 minutes to allow it to steam and finish cooking.
- 7
Fluff and Serve
Remove the lid and use a fork to fluff the rice gently. Serve warm as a side dish or with your favorite main course.
