Method
Marinating the Fish
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a bowl, combine the Mr. & Mrs. Crab Special Seasoning and lemon juice. Mix well.
- 2
Marinate the Tilapia
Place the tilapia fillets in the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Preparing the Batter
- 3
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.
- 4
Add Cold Water
Gradually add cold water to the dry ingredients, stirring until you achieve a smooth batter consistency.
Frying the Tilapia
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Coat the Tilapia
Remove the tilapia fillets from the marinade and allow excess marinade to drip off. Dip each fillet into the batter, ensuring an even coating.
- 7
Fry the Fish
Carefully place the battered tilapia fillets into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- 8
Drain the Fish
Once cooked, remove the fillets from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Serving
- 9
Prepare the Plate
Serve the fried tilapia hot with cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, and a side of French fries.
