Crab Cakes

Remoulade Sauce

Method

Crab Cakes Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Crab Mixture

In a large bowl, gently combine the fresh lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, chopped parsley, and green onions.

  2. 2

    Add the Binder

Add the beaten egg and bread crumbs to the crab mixture. Season with salt and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined, being careful not to break up the crab meat too much.

  3. 3

    Form the Cakes

Using your hands, form the mixture into small patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter. Place the formed cakes on a plate.

  4. 4

    Chill the Cakes

Cover the plate with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set.

Cooking the Crab Cakes

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.

  2. 6

    Cook the Crab Cakes

Carefully place the crab cakes into the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 7

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, transfer the crab cakes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with remoulade sauce.

Remoulade Sauce Preparation

  1. 8

    Mix the Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped capers, lemon juice, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

  2. 9

    Chill the Sauce

Cover and chill the remoulade sauce in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
