Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

1

Clean the Mussels

Rinse the green mussels under cold water to remove any sand or debris. Scrub the shells with a brush if needed.

2

Prepare the Garlic and Parsley

Mince the garlic cloves and chop the fresh parsley finely.

3

Prepare the Lemon

Cut the lemon in half and set aside for squeezing over the mussels later.

Cooking

4

Melt the Butter

In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter.

5

Sauté Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

6

Add White Wine

Pour in the white wine, stir, and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.

7

Cook the Mussels

Add the cleaned green mussels to the pot. Season with salt and black pepper. Cover the pot and steam the mussels for about 5-7 minutes, or until they open up.

8

Finish with Parsley and Lemon

Once the mussels are cooked, sprinkle the chopped parsley over them and squeeze fresh lemon juice from the halved lemon. Stir gently to combine.

Serving

9

Plate the Mussels

Using a slotted spoon, carefully transfer the mussels to a serving platter, ensuring to include some of the broth from the pot.

10

Garnish and Serve

Garnish with additional parsley if desired, and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
