Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cleaning the Crab

Rinse the blue crab under cold running water to remove any sand or debris. Ensure the crab is alive and active, as this indicates freshness.

  2. 2

    Cooking the Crab

Fill a large pot with water, enough to submerge the crab. Add the Old Bay seasoning and salt to the water. Bring the water to a rolling boil.

  3. 3

    Adding the Crab

Once the water is boiling, carefully add the blue crab to the pot. Cover the pot and let the crab cook for about 8-10 minutes. The crab should turn bright orange when done.

  4. 4

    Preparing the Lemon and Parsley

While the crab is cooking, cut the lemon into wedges and chop the fresh parsley.

Serving

  1. 5

    Draining and Plating

Once the crab is cooked, use tongs to remove it from the pot and place it on a platter. Let it drain for a minute.

  2. 6

    Garnishing

Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the crab and serve with lemon wedges on the side.

  3. 7

    Serving with Butter

Melt the butter and serve it in a small bowl on the side for dipping.

  4. 8

    Accompanying Snacks

Serve the crab with crackers for a delightful crunch.
