Preparation

Preparation

1. Season the Steak

Remove the prime rib eye steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This allows for even cooking. Pat the steak dry with paper towels.

2. Rub the Seasonings

In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the olive oil all over the steak and then generously apply the seasoning mix on both sides of the steak.

Cooking

3. Preheat the Grill or Oven

Preheat your grill to high heat (about 450°F) or your oven to 400°F.

4. Grill or Roast the Steak

Place the steak on the grill or in the oven. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until a meat thermometer reads 130°F. For medium, aim for 6-7 minutes per side, or until it reaches 140°F.

5. Add Aromatics

If using, add fresh rosemary and butter to the top of the steak during the last few minutes of cooking for added flavor.

Resting and Serving

6. Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your desired doneness, remove the steak from the grill or oven and cover loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

7. Slice and Serve

Slice the steak against the grain and serve with your choice of sides or sauces.
