Method
Fries
- 1
Prepare the potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thick strips to make fries.
- 2
Soak the fries
Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- 3
Heat the oil
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the potatoes
Drain and pat dry the soaked potatoes. Fry them in the hot oil in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch.
- 5
Season the fries
Remove fries from the oil, drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with salt to taste.
Gravy
- 6
- 7
Add beef broth
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, ensuring there are no lumps. Bring to a simmer.
- 8
