Dough Preparation

Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.

Once the yeast is activated, add it to the dry ingredients along with olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Let it Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Mix Sauce Ingredients
In a bowl, combine crushed tomatoes, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
Assemble and Bake

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.

Add Sauce
Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread a layer of tomato sauce over the dough.

Add Cheese
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.

Tear fresh basil leaves and scatter them on top of the cheese.

Bake the Pizza
Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
