Crust Preparation

Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together.
- 2
Chill the Dough
Form the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Chocolate Layer Preparation
- 4
Melt Chocolate
In a saucepan over low heat, combine heavy cream and semisweet chocolate chips. Stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and powdered sugar.
- 5
Layer the Chocolate
Pour the chocolate mixture into the cooled pie crust and spread evenly. Refrigerate for 1 hour to set.
Vanilla Cream Layer Preparation
- 6
Whip the Cream
In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, whip until soft peaks form.
- 7
Layer the Vanilla Cream
Spread the whipped vanilla cream over the chilled chocolate layer in the pie crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.
Topping Preparation
- 8
Finish with Whipped Cream
Top the pie with whipped cream and sprinkle chocolate shavings on top for decoration.
- 9
Chill and Serve
Refrigerate the assembled pie for an additional hour before slicing and serving.
